FAQ

Property maintenance service FAQs

What are your charges?
My pricing is simple, straightforward and competitive. There is a minimum charge which covers the first half hour and then a charge for each additional 15 minutes (not full hours as some firms charge). If you have a larger job or a long to-do list I offer discounted half-daily and daily rates.

What about materials?
For most jobs I charge for only a few screws or other fittings. However, I can supply larger items by prior arrangement.

Do you do estimates?
If on arrival I need to revise - I am more than happy to provide a free no obligation estimate. My goal, however, is to minimise fuss. Wherever possible I provide an estimate over the phone. If, on arrival, the handyman needs to revise a telephone estimate, you will always have the option not to proceed.

Are you insured?
Yes I am backed by £2m public liability insurance.

How quickly can you come out?
I do not offer an emergency call out service. I aim to be with you within a few days; at a time that is convenient for you. I can sometimes manage a same day service depending on my handyman schedule.

Do you work evenings and weekends?
Normal working hours for my handymen are Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm. Sometimes I offer an evening and Saturday morning service with prior arrangement.

Are your handymen reliable?
All of my handymen are full time employees that have been subject to a rigorous selection process, including a criminal records check. The ability to undertake the types of services I offer is clearly part of our selection criteria; however, equally important for The Handy Guys is to select handymen who have a positive ‘can do’ attitude; are friendly and polite; are well presented; and understand the importance of good customer service.

Will your handymen keep me waiting?
I aim to arrive within one hour of an agreed time. I will let you know if I am running late or in the rare event that I cannot honour my commitment.

What areas do you cover?
I am currently focusing on South Manchester and North Cheshire.

How can I pay?
I accept cash, cheque and BACS transfers. I am also able to offer credit terms to regular commercial customers.

Do you do commercial work?
Yes. Approximately half of my appointments are for commercial customers. I offer credit terms to regular commercial customers and can also offer discounts to my standard rates for regular service calls.
